A new promo has arrived from Utrecht called Turn of Fate from a band who calls itself Alerion.
Alerion is best described as a Female Fronted Progressive Metal band. They combine Female Fronted vocals, with a guitar-oriented, heavy and melodic sound. Contrary to what one might expect, Alerion does not play gothic metal. They live in Utrecht in The Netherlands.
Alerion is started in 2005 and played their first gig in 2006. They produced their demo "Fledgling" in 2007 after struggling to gettheir line up ready. In 2008 the new vocalist joined the band together with a new keyboard player. End 2008/begin 2009 the promo Turn of Fate was produced.
The Promo contains 2 songs: Turn of Fate and Clashwith Eternity. Total playing time little over 11 minutes.
Turn of Fate is a bit melodic with indeed the female vocals very present. In fact, so present that its very annoying to listen to. In the back you hear a band playing but its all overwhelmed by the vocals. The vocals itself arent really bad, but the melodic line of the vocals gets you tired very quickly.
The second song is more of a ballad without a lot of excitement. Same story also here, lots of vocals, little musical excitement.
Quality wise this demo is a bit dissapointing. Yes it's a promo, but you only get one change to make a good first impression. And Alerion missed that change.
Tracks:
1. Fate (7:38)
2. Clash with Eternity (4:10)
