'Robert Rock' is a heavy metal singer and songwriter. He is best known for being the lead singer of the band Impellitteri until 2000. He is also known as 'The Voice Of Melodic Metal' lets have a talk with mister Rock !
(TMR) Hello to to you from 'the metal resource' Holland, how are things going there in USA ?
(RR) Things are really crazy for me right now! Seems like I'm juggling
a dozen balls in the air at the same time. Time has really become a
precious commodity in my world. Besides all the work, I find with a two
year-old, life is packed with surprises every day!
(TMR) Recently you went back to Impellitteri and now you are working
with them on a new Impellitteri album ! Can you tell us why you made
the decision to go back ?
(RR) Chris called me up, told
me he was to do another Impellitteri album and he wanted to have me sing it.
Chris and I have always remained friends so once I heard the material, I was
interested in making another great record with him and the band. I have firmly
established myself as the solo artist "Rob Rock" with four albums, so I thought
the fans would really appreciate another album with me and Chris, while we had
the chance to do it and the songs are really good.
(TMR) Is
there a highlight you will always remember, since the beginning of the Rob Rock' band ?
(RR) I guess the biggest highlight was finally
releasing my first solo album. It was a monumental achievement for me and the
Rage of Creation CD will always have a special place in my
heart.
(TMR) And the worst thing were ?
(RR)
Hmmm...the worst thing would be that when I finally signed with AFM Records, a
few months later Andy (the owner) died. We had made many plans and ideas
together for "Rob Rock" and now that won't be realized the way we were picturing
it.
(TMR) Rob Rock will be playing on the Progpower USA
Festival in Atlanta this September, what are your expectations about
that ?
(RR) I expect to have a great show, shoot a wonderful
long awaited DVD, and have a blast playing the best festival in the USA for prog
and metal.
(TMR) Name some of your favourite bands to play with
live (in the past and
> future) and tell us why ?
(RR)
Masterplan was a lot of fun - great guys and a great band to listen to every
night. I always like the big festivals too because it gives me a chance to see
many bands live at one time. Trivium was another band I enjoyed, they were very
young and I believe the played their first gig opening up for "Rob Rock" in
Orlando Florida during my Rage of Creation tour....yea...look at them
now!
Axel Rudi Pell was another highlight. I enjoyed the tour with the band
and it felt good to hang with Axel again since the Nasty Reputation album we did
together.
(TMR) You are now working on a new Impellitteri
album, can you tell us something about that please ! (the songs/the
sound/the recording proces, release date ?)
(RR)
Patience my friend!! haha! I need to tell myself that all the time.
We are
mixing the album right now and it sounds great! It's the sound of Chris and Rob
again and the album has some great guitar riffs and massive vocals. The album
has a lot of colors to it, but it's definitely the Impellitteri sound you expect
when I'm singing and writing with Chris. I did all the vocals here in Florida so
that's a little different than we used to do but...technology has progressed so
we were able to record the band in California, the vocals in Florida and mix in
Canada with Greg Realy. Release will be sometime in early 2009 in Japan I think,
but no official date yet
(TMR) What more can we expect in the
nearly future from 'Rob Rock' ? (European tour, a new solo record, a
new Fires Of Babylon album maybe ?)
(RR) You can expect a new
album from Roy Z and I. We got together and finally recorded the first "Driver"
album together! It's called Sons of Thunder" and comes out September 26th in
Europe and October 22 in Japan and USA. We re-recorded six songs from our
original 1989 EP and then recorded six new songs, and three of them are hit
songs! I'm really digging the album and it will come out September
26th.
(TMR) Thanx for your time and the interview !! We wish
'Rob Rock' all the
> best ! .....is there anything you wanna say at last ? (any final statement ?)
(RR) Thank you for your support and
check my webpages (www.robrock.com and www.myspace.com/robrock1 ) for the
latest happenings. I am planning the Live CD/DVD now and I plan to deliver a
great DVD in 2009 for all the fans and RR supporters out there.
God bless
you!
Rob
